El 29 de mayo de 2013 vieron la luz las recomendaciones de la Comisión Europea para todos los países de la UE, excepto para los que se encuentran inmersos en programas de ajuste, fruto de los rescates (Grecia, Irlanda, Portugal y Chipre). Estas recomendaciones regirán la política económica y presupuestaria de los estados durante 2013 y 2014, pero incluirán reformas de largo alcance, difícilmente modificables. </div>

En el caso del Estado Español, el Consejo de la Unión Europea, siguiendo las recomendaciones de la Comisión Europea, aduce <em>"se precisarán otras medidas para controlar el incremento del gasto derivado del envejecimiento de la población, por ejemplo, una adecuada regulación del factor de sostenibilidad previsto en la reforma del sistema de pensiones de 2011, que entre otras cosas prevea que la edad de jubilación se prolongue en consonancia con el aumento de la esperanza de vida." </em>En otras palabras, se exige "sutilmente" al gobierno español que retrase la edad de jubilación. </div>

Pero lo que en realidad pone en peligro a las pensiones públicas no es que vivamos más años, sino las políticas de austeridad que crean paro (por tanto menos cotizantes) y una cada vez mayor desigualdad de rentas. Este proceso, al que estamos asistiendo en los últimos años, hace disminuir peligrosamente la masa salarial con la que se financian las pensiones.</div>

Por otro lado, ¿son nuestras pensiones algo excesivo en relación a nuestra economía? En 2010, según los datos ofrecidos por Eurostat sobre la <strong>percepción anual media por pensión de jubilación</strong> en los países de la UE-15, <strong>Dinamarca</strong> contaba con la pensión más beneficiosa (18.579,8 euros) seguida por <strong>Holanda</strong> (18.035,6 euros). Sin embargo, <strong>España</strong>, con una cuantía de 11.702 euros anuales, estaba al final de la lista, por encima únicamente de <strong>Grecia</strong> (8.362,0) y <strong>Portugal</strong> (7.099,7 euros).</div>
