European Conference on Rural Development in Cork on 5./6. September. The
declaration addresses current challenges in farming and rural areas in the
EU. Amongst other things they stress the value of sustainable provision of
quality food, developing the circular economy, broadening the bio-economy,
fostering resource efficiency, combating climate change and reducing the
reliance on fossil fuels...

GMOs: Commission authorises GMOs for food/feed use

The Commission authorised the placing on the market of products containing,
consisting of, or produced from GM maizes.  This authorization  valid for
10 years and which does not cover cultivation - is taking place after the 11
GMOs have gone through a full authorisation procedure, including a
favourable scientific assessment by EFSA.
