Estos tres organismos <strong>multilaterales</strong> -integrados por varios países- se dedican a estudiar la situación económica de los países para señalarles qué <strong>medidas y reformas económicas</strong> deben llevar a cabo si quieren sanear sus cuentas y crecer. Estos análisis los hacen desde una óptica claramente neoliberal, sujeta a la presión de los lobbies de las empresas. La propia UE, en su "Registro de Transparencia" voluntario, tiene registrados 2524 grupos de presión empresarial, aunque, según otras fuentes, son menos de la mitad de los "lobbies" existentes.</div>

<strong>Al recibir financiación</strong> del FMI o del Mecanismo Europeo de Estabilidad (MEDE), los países se comprometen a seguir estrictamente las "condicionalidades" recogidas en un documento que se conoce como Memorándum de Entendimiento (MOU, según las siglas en inglés).</div>

Se puede afirmar que el país financiado por la troika se encuentra intervenido porque al seguir sus directrices <strong>pierde gran parte de su independencia política. De hecho, en palabras del propio ex-Primer Ministro de Italia, Mario Monti, "La llegada de la troika (...) es una presencia muy intrusiva y, de facto, una pérdida asimétrica de soberanía".</strong></div>
