<p>Hace casi un mes les contaba del <a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://www.puntogeek.com/2010/07/13/la-comunidad-de-opensolaris-planea-disolverse-si-oracle-no-reacciona/#more-18627">posible
abandono del proyecto OpenSolaris </a>por parte de su comunidad,
debido a la falta de interés por parte de Oracle. Tal era así, que la <strong><a
moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Community+Group+ogb/">OpenSolaris
Governing Board</a> (OGB)</strong> había decidido abandonar el proyecto
si es que Oracle no reaccionaba; esto sucedería si la empresa no emitía
alguna reacción antes del 13 de agosto.</p>
<p>Pero un grupo de desarrolladores de OpenSolaris no tiene el más
mínimo interés en seguir esperando a que Oracle declare su postura, así
que <strong>decidieron comenzar a trabajar en un fork que sea
independiente de la empresa</strong>. Dicho desarrollo se llamará <a
moz-do-not-send="true" href="http://www.illumos.org/">Illumos</a>,
contará con el apoyo de la comunidad de OpenSolaris y Nexenta (otro SO
basado en Debian y OpenSolaris) y será lanzado oficialmente mañana.</p>
<p><strong>¿Oracle reaccionara?</strong> Todavía quedan unas semanas
para que se cumpla el plazo que la OGB propuso. Yo <strong>sigo
cruzando los dedos para que OpenOffice.org </strong>no caiga en la
misma volteada.</p>
