These are the questions tackled by Michel Bauwens, Vasilis Kostakis and Alex Pazaitis in their just-launched book: “Peer to Peer: A Commons Manifesto”. Not since Marx identified the manufacturing plants of Manchester as the blueprint for the new capitalist society has there been a more profound transformation of the fundamentals of our social life. As capitalism faces a series of structural crises, Bauwens, Kostakis and Pazaitis claim a new social, political and economic dynamic is emerging: peer to peer. They describe peer to peer as both a type of social relations in human networks, as well as a technological infrastructure that makes the generalization and scaling up of such relations possible. Thus, they claim, peer to peer enables a new mode of production and creates the potential for a transition to a commons-oriented economy beyond capitalism. If you are curious how the current political economy around capital, state and nation could be transformed to one based on: - new ecosystems between productive communities sharing common resources - generative market mechanisms that work for these communities and state forms - public authorities which enable and empower the autonomy of individuals and communities, through public-commons partnerships You can order, or download the book (for free) via: http://commonstransition.org/peer-to-peer-a-commons-manifesto/ #PostGrowthAlliance submission by: @P2PFoundation This email was sent to [email protected] *why did I get this?* <https://postgrowthalliance.us2.list-manage.com/about?u=dcc08996cc57fb1c3f5af62ec&id=ea6e1243f0&e=f59b446add&c=a08085e462> unsubscribe from this list <https://postgrowthalliance.us2.list-manage.com/unsubscribe?u=dcc08996cc57fb1c3f5af62ec&id=ea6e1243f0&e=f59b446add&c=a08085e462> update subscription preferences <https://postgrowthalliance.us2.list-manage.com/profile?u=dcc08996cc57fb1c3f5af62ec&id=ea6e1243f0&e=f59b446add> Post Growth Institute · 156A Union St · Ashland, OR 97520 · USA -- P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net Connect: http://p2pfoundation.ning.com; Discuss: http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation Updates: http://del.icio.us/mbauwens; http://friendfeed.com/mbauwens; http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens
