the Internet Blueprint: grassroots suggestions for reforming U.S.Internet law
Hi, forwarding the e-mail below. Should the P2P-F endorse the proposal? Best, Franco. -------- Mensaje original -------- Asunto: [A2k] the Internet Blueprint: grassroots suggestions for reforming U.S.Internet law Fecha: Tue, 28 Feb 2012 12:43:03 -0500 De: Sherwin Siy <[email protected]> Today Public Knowledge is excited to announce The Internet Blueprint, hosted at internetblueprint.org. The Internet Blueprint is an attempt to put forward a positive agenda post SOPA and PIPA. Please feel free to go to the site and poke around, but let me give you a quick overview of the site. The first thing you will see on the site is a list of proposals. These go beyond general statements, and include detailed descriptions and actual bill text. Going forward, they will also contain icons for Congressional champions, along with organization and company endorsers. Scrolling down, there is also an opportunity for members of the public to suggest additions to the site. Anyone can create an account and propose an addition. Then the public can upvote the ones they like. If the proposal gets enough support, they will be considered for inclusion in the formal list of proposals. Also, hopefully, some of the organizations on this list will consider endorsing one (or more than one) specific proposal on the site. There is more information here: http://www.publicknowledge.org/blog/introducing-internet-blueprint And, of course, here: www.internetblueprint.org So please take a look and let us know what you think. Also, if you would like to endorse a proposal and have your logo displayed on the site, please let me know. So we are going to beg the government to beg the owners? I wonder why we refuse to buy and co-own the infrastructure for our own benefit. We, the Users, already pay for all the costs of production and yet we have no real control. Imagine the future where we, the Users, stop paying the current owners for limited access, and use those funds to simply buy the infrastructure from those feudalists. Once we, the Users, co-own the Means of Production for our own benefit, we will not need to talk to puppets in the government or to any of the coporatists still in business, because we will finally be in charge! How boring and limiting and groveling it is to ask owners to do something they do not want to do. We remain weak and impotent because we refuse to accept the risks of ownership even though we eventually pay for it all anyway. What a bunch of cowardly fools we are that we will not gather together for our own purposes and without the drive to dominate others. Pitiful.
I can hear it now: "Just shut up and implement your plan if you think it is so great!" As though I can do it all alone. As though I have all of those skills. As though it is not worth the trouble to consider and improve upon HOW we should organize before we buy the land and tools and organisms. Is there nobody here willing to reconsider the purpose of production? Are you so sure Profit must be a reward for the owners, causing the well-known concentration of power as the org scales? Are you so sure Profit must be a reward for the owners, causing the well-known seeking of scarcity and destruction and war? Are you so sure Product cannot be a sufficient reason for Investment? Are you sure the Investors must be a random group that only cares about the Use-Value of Product in that they must restrict that value to perpetuate Profit? Are you sure the current owners are a special kind of human that hold property, and that we, the Users that pay for that property, CANNOT own? Stop following the old ways; we must reconsider our future. Stop assuming Profit is the only reward for Investment. Consider consumers who will pre-pay for Product and thereby become co-owners in the Means of Production for Use-Value. Hello? Can anybody hear me?

Even though due process rights would be a vast improvement -- and make digital IP de facto unenforceable -- I don't think P2P-F should be endorsing anything that even recognizes the legitimacy of IP in principle. -- Kevin Carson Research Associate, Center for a Stateless Society http://c4ss.org "You have no authority that we are bound to respect" -- John Perry Barlow "We are legion.
