Wood & Nieuwenhuijze's (2006) article on sympoiesis :
" interfacing between different viewpoints (and in fact disciplines of
science) to establish a principle of collaboration (synergy) by which the expertise
of either standpoint can be combined, and enhanced, to bring out newunderstanding. "
The paper will show that this requires a study of the modes of
involvement of the participants/authors, as well as a dynamic process of
participation, which supplements the skills of science with those of art.

Languaging within metadesigning

- It suggests that sympoietic co-authorship satisfies the following conditions:
- Synergistic - i.e. when writing transcends what co-authors previously achieved
- Emergent - i.e. when outcomes are surprising to each co-author
- Interoperable - i.e. when the language agreed is accessible to co-authors, and others
- Transferable - i.e. when the text is applicable beyond its original purpose or context
