STUDENTS AND STAFF PROTEST AT THE UNIVERSITY OF AMSTERDAM

There are currently a lot of protests going on at the University of
Amsterdam in the Netherlands against the proposed austerity measures
which will very seriously affect the Humanities and Arts.

We (academic staff supporting the students) have formulated a more
broad-based open letter to the Board and the Education Ministry that has
now gone up as a petition on Change.org.

We are collecting more signatures, also from sympathisers from other
universities, to sustain the movement’s momentum, and demonstrate that
there is a wide and international base for the kinds of changes the
students have been demanding.
