ok for the intro time, though I'm not sure I'm really well-informed about the intricacies of the open definitions ..

looking forward to hearing your analysis whenever you find the time!

you probably know that I have collated various open defs via http://p2pfoundation.net/Category:Standards#Open_Definitions

if you know of others that are not listed, thanks for letting me know ... just in case you have access to a printer, and you'd be interested in printing them out for reading them in detail, I would love a copy too, that would allow me to prepare in detail ...

here's the list in full:

Without broad access none of the below can be used by the average citizen, so check out the:

  1. The Open Standards Definition. By Bruce Perens.
  2. Open Standards Requirement for Software

Hello Michel!

Thank you for your fast and possitive reaction. Fantastic you can attend the workshop on free and open infrastructure at Okcon! (http://fcforum.net/en/sustainable-models-for-creativity/how-to-manual#collaboration). If it is fine for you, I would like to include a short introduction from you (around 5 minutes - we don't have much time in total and I think good to priorise a group discussion). If you could also refer in your keynote that we can keep the discussion on the infrastructure layer on the base of what you present at your keynote, would be brilliant.

Thanks for your interest! Yes, I also look forward to have time to write it, with so much foing on here is difficult to have the time and the mind for writing. But more than "not being p2p" is that there as some comon values and party common principles between 15M and p2p, but also discontinuities and different organizational solutions (such as in regard to the question of centralizaion versus descentralization, autonomy and political strategy). It is in my to-do list before going to Berlin.

Looking forward seeing you and others in this e-list at Berlin. I am arriving on the 29th and leaving on the 3th. Cheers! Mayo

I should be there Mayo,

by the way, any chance we can still get your article on the spanish mobilizations 'not being p2p', as we discussed earlier?

sorry for insisting, but I really value your insights,

Michel

Hello to everyone!

I would like to bring to your attention a workshop which is taking place during the Okcon. In short, the plan is reflecting on OpenDefinition.org in the light of definition of free and open infrastructure from the Fcforum 2010, and vice-versa. It would be fantastic to have the input from people in this e-lists involved on the Opendefinition.

Okcon workshop: Defining (and synerging) free and open infrastructure for open online collaboration - July 1st at 12:30 in Workshop II

The workshop will address the legal, technical, governing and economical conditions for free and open infrastructure for open online collaboration. We will build upon Fcforum 2010 definition of free and open infrastructure (http://fcforum.net/en/sustainable-models-for-creativity/how-to-manual#collaboration) importantly aiming to cross and synergy with the work of the open definition of the Open Knowledge Foundation, and the inputs of the people attending the workshop.

Further presentation of the activity here: http://okcon.org/2011/programme/defining-and-synerging-free-and-open-infrastructure-for-open-online-collaboration
Definition of free and open infrastructure Fcforum 2010: http://fcforum.net/en/sustainable-models-for-creativity/how-to-manual#collaboration
Open definition Okfn: http://www.opendefinition.org/okd/

Please let me know if any of you plan to attend and/or would like to do a short introductory intervention to warm up the discussion.

Thank you in advance. Have a nice day! Mayo
