Subject: Our Open Letter to the United Nations
To:

Dear family and friends,

Today, the United Nations are going to ratify the Sustainable Development Goals. Although they sound laudable, they are actually a neoliberal fig leaf, a distraction really, to prevent us from the real work of rewriting the rules of the economy. They require a 12x increase in global GDP in 15 years in order to be achieved because they don't tackle inequality, wealth distribution, rampant consumption or perpetual growth.

I would like to ask for your support in this campaign by signing onto our Open Letter to the United Nations. It has been co-signed by Noam Chomsky, Eve Ensler, Chris Hedges, Naomi Klein, Thomas Pogge, Maude Barlow, Anuradha Mittal, David Graeber, and others.

The hashtags we are using to build momentum around this letter are:
#WhatTheyDontSayAboutPoverty
#PovertyIsCreated

Thank you for your support.

In love and solidarity,

A

P.S. Our latest piece is out today on Occupy.com entitled, The SDGs: A Siren and a Lullaby for Our Times. Please take a look when you get a second.
