Subject: Re: Melbourne Event/s with Michel Bauwens ... a suggestion

Daryl, Michel, Jose

Just perusing the FB conversation and some of Michel’s P2P links re the partner state:

I think there might be strong interest from the City of Melbourne in the theory of the “partner state”
I was at a meeting with the City Planner a few weeks ago, in which he talked about being in NYC and seeing there the city undertaking the task of identifying all pieces of public land that could be open to public participation. This is can be everything from large parks and pieces of land to small pieces of land at street corners.

Melbourne is also trialling citizen juries to set budgets:

(I’ve just volunteered for one.)

Members of Melbourne's People's Panel stand outside City Hall.

This might be an additional or even better angle through which to secure the City’s partnership than through resilience, which is less central to Michel’s work.

Finally, just had a meeting today out our new “creative, learning and community” space:

Built by the City, after long lobbying by one of our local community activists.
