Hi Dante,

my own position would be very akin to that of critical realism, i.e. there is indeed something out there that we are part of, we do exist as entities, persons, etc .. and unless you are part of the 0.00001% of those with mystical capacities, primordial unity will be just an abstract concept,

I find love and engagement to be more truly operative, and love requires separate beings that must bridge a gap,

the Primordial Unity?"
and also

"So, I reject any
notion that reality is a pure construction of the human mind."

It leads me to re-member these views

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kashmir_Shaivism

excerpt :

"descriptors denote a standpoint that Cit (consciousness) is the one reality. Matter is not separated from consciousness, but rather identical to it. There is no gap between God and the world. The world is not an illusion (as in Advaita Vedanta), rather the perception of duality is the illusion."

which may possibly have a parallel with some of the points you seemed to put forward,
even though I am also aware, from your email that you said, at that moment

"I make no claims to metaphysical expertise and
must remain agnostic in these matters."
