Dear Friends and Subscribers,

We are pleased to announce the release of the Pillars of Peace, a new ground-breaking research report that analyses over 4,000 datasets to determine the factors that make a country peaceful. Produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace, the report describes the attitudes, institutions and structures that underpin peaceful societies. Download the Pillars of Peace Report.

Panel Discussion at the United Nations - Geneva

The Pillars of Peace report was released today with a panel discussion at the United Nations in Geneva. The discussion used the report as a basis to explore a new approach for increasing resilience and well-being, and the necessity for positive peace to be included on the post-2015 development agenda.

Upcoming: London Event
Join us in London for a panel discussion with Canning House and Prospect magazine to explore the question:
can measuring peace help us understand internal conflicts? Discussions will focus on case studies from Central and South America and will examine what causes such complex internal conflicts.
Panelists include IEP's Steve Killelea, Canning House's Sir Mark Moody Stuart, and investigative journalist Anabel Hernandez. The panel will be chaired by Jonathan Derbyshire of Prospect Magazine.
RSVP - 16th September 6:30pm - London

Report on Accountability Framework
As the deadline for the Millennium Development Goals fast approaches, discussions are taking place as to what a new development agenda should look like. The Institute for Economics and Peace is part of an expert advisory group consulting on the theme of Violence, Conflict and Disaster. In mid-June, IEP met with UNDP, UNPBSO, UNICEF and the World Bank to determine an accountability framework  for conflict, violence, governance and disaster within the context of the post-2015 agenda. See highlights from the report.

Best wishes,
