Hola Harry:

I had downloaded the live CD twice using winXP and burning with Nero 7, both times it said the ISO was bad. I switched over to Mandriva Linux 2005 LE and downloaded and burned with K3B and everything was okay. Looks like it was a problem with that, fragment of excrement, windows. Haven't had time to check it all out yet ,but looks promising.

I supposed that the ISO file on gnu.org was damaged, but now you say that it works, and other people say it too, so, I am glad now.
