Bit Torrent for Musix GNU+Linux 0.79
I noticed that ngolf at zonnet.nl was thankful that he was able to "download" instead of "torrent", however I am not. (http://lists.ourproject.org/pipermail/musix-users/2006-December/000432.html ) <[email protected]> <[email protected]>"Downloading" (http/ftp) relies on the underlying TCP layer for error control, which uses a weak checksum by modern standards. In addition to distributing transmission bandwidth, modern peer-to-peer protocols provide an additional layer of error control. Long story short - I have a corrupt ISO file, which would Not have happened with Bit Torrent, (or Gnutella, or eDonkey) Maybe one of you could send me the output from this command: for a in `seq 0 697`; do (dd if=MusixGNU+Linux- 0.79b19.iso bs=1M count=1 skip=$a 2>/dev/null | md5sum >> MusixGNU+Linux-0.79b19.md5sum.1M); done And I can manually recover the file; maybe downloading only 1 meg to repair the file. Otherwise, I'll have to begin downloading the entire 697 Megs all over again.

We are now making a torrent but we already included Musix 0.79 to be downloaded using aMule : do you find it?
Long story short - I have a corrupt ISO file, which would Not have happened with Bit Torrent, (or Gnutella, or eDonkey)
Now should be in eDonkey
Maybe one of you could send me the output from this command:
for a in `seq 0 697`; do (dd if=MusixGNU+Linux- 0.79b19.iso bs=1M count=1 skip=$a 2>/dev/null | md5sum >> MusixGNU+Linux-0.79b19.md5sum.1M); done Pretty ;) /mnt/hdb8/knx$ for a in `seq 0 697`; do (dd if=musix079b19.iso bs=1M count=1 skip=$a 2>/dev/null | md5sum >> /tmp/MusixGNU+Linux-0.79b19.md5sum.1M); done
And I can manually recover the file; maybe downloading only 1 meg to repair the file.
Mm.... well, I dont know... I attached the output... does it works for you?
Otherwise, I'll have to begin downloading the entire 697 Megs all over again.

# Here's the method: # This one-liner calculates the md5 for each 1-meg block of the ISO file: $ for a in `seq 0 697`; do (dd if=musix079b19.iso bs=1M count=1 skip=$a 2>/dev/null | md5sum >> /tmp/MusixGNU+Linux-0.79b19.md5sum.1M); done # I compared your report with my report, and they are the same except for line 140. $ diff yourfile.txt myfile.txt # So, the first 139 megs are correct $ dd if=corrupt.iso of=resume.iso bs=1M count=139 # The remainder of file after block 140 is also correct $ dd if=corrupt.iso of=remainder.iso bs=1M skip=140 # Download block 140 $ wget -c <URL> -o resume.iso # ctl-C after 1-Meg of file xfer # reassemble the file $ dd if=resume.iso of=repaired.iso bs=1M count=140 $ cat remainder.iso >> repaired.iso $ md5sum repaired.iso 23a524510427ceba7da4a8c919483ff7 # All good
