MC mapping in P2P wikisprint
by Samer 19 Mar '13

19 Mar '13

Hey I'm very glad to announce that the Spanish/Latin American hackathon for mapping P2P local initiatives in around 10 countries: http://wikisprint.p2pf.org/?lang=en will include Move Commons in the form (see in the last part): http://p2pfoundation.net/Special:FormEdit/WikiSprint20M-en/Test That is, after tomorrow we will suddenly have all these local initiatives with their MC labels mapped in the P2P Foundation wiki. Thanks to Franco Iacomella (P2P Foundation) for his fantastic work!

Fwd: Proposal for ECC /MOVE COMMONS STICKERS
by Samer 19 Mar '13

19 Mar '13

The main event on the Commons this year, in Berlin, (where we were invited) will use Move Commons stickers in the registration, for all participants :) ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Silke Helfrich <silke.helfrich(a)gmx.de> Date: Mon, Mar 18, 2013 at 1:44 PM Subject: Fwd: Proposal for ECC /MOVE COMMONS STICKERS To: Samer <samer(a)ourproject.org> Cc: David Bollier <david(a)bollier.org>, Heike Loeschmann <Loeschmann(a)boell.de > Dear Samer, this sounds like a wonderfull idea to me, it does not only helps to get Move-Commons known but also that ppl at ECC identify each other more easily in their respective fields of activity. I'd prefer the second option - i.e. distribute the stickers at the registration and then let ppl. figure out their move-commons-profile, will discuss this with Heike, as this needs to be taken into account for the registration. Would you be available to assist to the ppl. at the registration desk (not for the whole time but for an hour or a little more on May 22... Best Silke -------- Original-Nachricht -------- Betreff: Proposal for ECC Datum: Mon, 18 Mar 2013 11:18:07 +0100 Von: Samer <samer(a)ourproject.org> An: Silke Helfrich <Silke.Helfrich(a)gmx.de>, David Bollier <david(a)bollier.org> Hey Silke, David, Thanks again for your invitation to the ECC conf. I wanted to propose you something. I was also invited to the side event http://p2pfoundation.net/**Commons_Culture_**Communications_-_2012<http://p2pfoundation.net/Commons_Culture_Communications_-_2012> and talking with its organizer Franco, he had the idea of distributing there the Move Commons stickers we have used other times. The idea is to provide empty sticker badges and many small sticker icons, so people can fill them in with the characteristics of their initiative/project/org: http://movecommons.org/**visuals/ <http://movecommons.org/visuals/> http://movecommons.org/2010/**11/mc-stickers-all-over-**drumbeat/<http://movecommons.org/2010/11/mc-stickers-all-over-drumbeat/> In Mozilla Drumbeat we just left them on the tables, while in the Digital Commons conf they were distributed in the registration to all participants (so they can stick them in their conf badges, along with their name). Would that be useful for the large ECC conf? Or is it too much a hassle? Just let me know if you like the idea.

Support Ourproject.org & Comunes.org / Apoya a Ourproject.org y a Comunes.org / Apoia a Ourproject.org
by donate＠ourproject.org 11 Apr '12

11 Apr '12

Muchas gracias. Un cordial saludo, El equipo detrás de Ourproject.org y Comunes.org ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [ENGLISH]: Dear members of Ourproject.org: We are contacting you in order to update you on a new way of collaborating in the growth of our community. As you know, Ourproject has lived an extraordinary growth from its birth 10 years ago, as today we already have 1.079 projects which all together receive around a million visits per month. Everything with no ads and sharing their work with free licenses, following the spirit of this community. This growth has required to increase the capacity of the servers and infrastructure of Ourproject and the other projects under the umbrella of our non-profit Comunes.org. In this line, we joined other similar collectives to form a Collective Data Centre, with enough resources for all of us: http://comunes.org/787/building-a-collective-data-centre/ Besides, it’s time to offer new and more advanced services that we have been developing in the last five years, such as: http://kune.ourproject.org http://kune.cc However, this implies a continuous economic effort. Furthermore, the time has come to renew our servers, that have already shown serious signals and issues: http://comunes.org/909/help-servers-hardware/ that you may have suffered, with more frequent problems in the service. We should take into account that during these 10 years we have been assuming the efforts from our personal economic contributions. That is why we have decided to create a new method of participation and co-funding for the old and new members of Ourproject. It consists of regular, variable and fully optional economic contributions (each one to the extent of their capabilities, avoiding fixed quotas), that would allow us to sustain the expenses, so everyone in the community can help sustaining this common ecosystem. Thus, we have prepared a donation page: http://comunes.org/donate/ in which you could, if you want to, collaborate with regular monthly quotas. These contributions will be used just for the maintenance of the servers and infrastructure, and we’ll keep with the spirit of Ourproject and Comunes by not seeking profit in any way, and not placing ads anywhere. Every economic move done with these contributions will be clearly exposed to the community, transparently, in a highlighted part of our pages. Thanks a lot for your support, The team behind Ourproject.org and Comunes.org
