Journal of Peer Production Twitter handle?
Hello all, Just wondering if you've discussed already (or made plans for) setting up a Twitter handle for the Journal of Peer Production? I'm bringing it up now because a lot of people ask me for one when I discuss the special issues with them - and I bet it's the same for each of you. I also regularly see people tweeting about the journal, but without a handle to link others on Twitter to it. Given tweets can be quite a useful mechanism for sharing readings widely with many folk at once when new issues come out, I'd be happy to maintain an account with a few others here if anyone else is interested. Just putting it out there as an offer, and apologies if it's already been talked about before I was conscious on this list ;) - Kat
Hi Kat My 2 cents: I don't go on Twitter much. Usually use #peerproduction to advertise releases. By coincidence this report just came out: The Grim Conclusions of the Largest-Ever Study of Fake News Falsehoods almost always beat out the truth on Twitter, penetrating further, faster, and deeper into the social network than accurate information. https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2018/03/largest-study-ever-fa... I can see the propaganda / diffusion of information benefits and I thank you for proposing to organise a jopp presence. My only concern is that that deliberations or connections may start occurring on a (privately owned) platform which people on this list who are not active on Twitter might then miss out on. So could there be a way to publish a weekly, biweekly, monthly (?) digest of notable jopp Twitter activity? cheers Mathieu ________________________________ From: JoPP-Public <[email protected]> on behalf of Kat Braybrooke <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 10, 2018 6:23 To: Journal of Peer Production's general and public list Subject: [JoPP-Public] Journal of Peer Production Twitter handle? PS. Did not mean this suggestion as a necessary prerequisite - might be redundant to have a digest as those interested can simply follow! So no objection from me either way. ________________________________ From: JoPP-Public <[email protected]> on behalf of Mathieu O'Neil <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, March 10, 2018 9:28 To: Journal of Peer Production's general and public list Subject: Re: [JoPP-Public] Journal of Peer Production Twitter handle?
