Hi Peter, maxigas, all Last October we had a discussion about the desirability of having JoPP listed in places such as the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). One of the questions applicants to DOAJ need to answer is whether they provide PDF versions of articles. It was decided to delay application to DOAJ until PDFs were back in play (to avoid having to modify the application (I admit I don't know for sure how complicated that would be)). In any case - as Zack and I are currently preparing the release of JoPP#10 I thought it was a good opportunity to enquire about this: is there any chance we might have something in place in time for the upcoming release? cheers, Mathieu
HI all I agree, it is desirable to have pdf versions of the articles easily available. I've been investigating options, and currently this appears to me the most appropriate to our workflow http://wp.dinamiko.com/demos/dkpdf/ <http://wp.dinamiko.com/demos/dkpdf/> which is already installed on the site, but not yet fully tested and integrated into the publishing workflow - needs full header/footer configuration (ISS, issue number, stuff like that) - need to test how this plugin interacts with the static html Depending on my overall work load and the publishing progress of issue 10 we might be able to give it a spin this time round ... Peter PS. the plugin also has a paid cousin for generating pdfs of multiple content: https://codecanyon.net/item/dk-pdf-generator/13530581 <https://codecanyon.net/item/dk-pdf-generator/13530581>

Hi Peter, for the filenames, maybe you can change this in the code (but of course at any update of the plugin you will have to tweak it again), https://github.com/Dinamiko/dk-pdf/blob/master/includes/dkpdf-functions.php#... https://github.com/Dinamiko/dk-pdf/blob/master/includes/dkpdf-functions.php#... with: $mpdf->Output( 'JoPP_'. get_the_category( $id )[0]->name .'_'.get_the_author($post->ID).'.pdf', 'I' ); and $mpdf->Output( 'JoPP_'. get_the_category( $id )[0]->name .'_'.get_the_author($post->ID).'.pdf', 'D' ); if the article is a post, and "issue number" is the first (or only) category of the post. Hi Peter, Massimo The PDF looks very good! Thanks for your work on this. Perhaps as we have the icon title top left we do not need to have the journal title and subtitle top right? Only the issue name? Or maybe subtitle + issue name. Just a thought. Re PDF filename, Massimo's suggestion is obviously helpful - let's hope it works. cheers Mathieu ________________________________ From: JoPP-Public <[email protected]> on behalf of Massimo Menichinelli <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, May 9, 2017 5:56 To: Journal of Peer Production's general and public list Subject: Re: [JoPP-Public] PDF versions of articles Hi Peter, for the filenames, maybe you can change this in the code (but of course at any update of the plugin you will have to tweak it again), https://github.com/Dinamiko/dk-pdf/blob/master/includes/dkpdf-functions.php#... https://github.com/Dinamiko/dk-pdf/blob/master/includes/dkpdf-functions.php#... with: $mpdf->Output( 'JoPP_'. get_the_category( $id )[0]->name .'_'.get_the_author($post->ID).'.pdf', 'I' ); and $mpdf->Output( 'JoPP_'. get_the_category( $id )[0]->name .'_'.get_the_author($post->ID).'.pdf', 'D' ); if the article is a post, and "issue number" is the first (or only) category of the post. Hi all, in order to disseminate further my article in Issue #10, I printed it as a .pdf on macOS Sierra (normal printing to .pdf) and I'd say that the results are fine for me (it should be the print.css file), so in case the plugin does not work well we could generate the .pdf manually for each article and just put the .pdf file available for download.
