Do you use Emacs in terminal mode or in X mode? In the first case TAB is the same as C-i (and cannot be distinguished), and C-i is bound to `evil-jump-forward'. You can customize the variable `evil-want-C-i-jump' or simply remove the binding of C-i from `evil-motion-state-map'. Frank
