I can prepare meals, and if there's little left, I sometimes wonder if those who tasted it were pleased or just polite in silence. Thus, when I'm the one tasting a meal that doesn't appeal to me, I refrain from voicing my dislike, knowing it could hurt feelings. I respect the effort and time someone spent cooking. I knew someone whose cooking was just not on par, bless her soul. She has since passed, and while I don't wish to speak ill of her, the truth remains she was not skilled in the kitchen. She would overcook pasta until it was almost pure mush, ideal for a baby to gulp down without chewing. She once roasted a chicken at a normal temperature for over six hours. When she boiled cabbage, it turned watery and soggy, filling the plate with liquid! And rice, too, was so sticky it resembled mashed potatoes or grits. Perhaps I'm fortunate, but my friends who aren't culinary wizards are upfront and ask for assistance. Among us, we know who excels at what, and we support the less adept cooks. The post inquires how you'd tell "someone" their cooking falls short. If not close to them, I'd let my actions speak. I'd simply not consume what isn't tasty. In a fine dining scenario where feedback is solicited, I'd kindly share my thoughts or silently leave it untouched. Appreciate your understanding.
