We are working on a Bostimatic using the PPMC card set We are running BDI 4.30 We have everyting connected, ran the ppmc diagnostics and everything works fine When we run EMC we have all the DIO working, ESTOP, MachineON, Limits, Etc. we have tested the encoders by moving them by hand and they work in EMC and display the right movements When we try to move an axis EMC errors off with a follow error. We have checked and there is no voltage being sent out of the DAC card from EMC. It works fine with the PPMC diagnostics. Just noting with EMC. Anyone running EMC BDI 4.3 with PPMC.

I did some preliminary tests with the help of Jon Elson back in April. Only had one motor attached, but it did spin up in response to MDI and jogs. One of two things spring to mind.. 1) You are using the wrong IO controller - Set EMCIO = ppmcbridgeportio 2) Alternatively, the ENABLE_INDEX for each axis needs inverting. Regards, Paul.
Thank you for your reply. We (my brother and me) think that EMC is great. This has gone pretty easy up till this point. I had already worked out the EMCIO = ppmcbridgeportio from Jon. I had asked him about the ENABLE_INDEX and he has not replied yet, I think he is having Encoder problems with 4.3. I don't have any documentation that says what ENABLE_INDEX is so, not sure what is does or what it should be set to. I think it is set to "x" in the default .ini file. Do you have any suggestions for this parameter? Is there any documentation on 4.3 or source code that I could look at to help work through these problems?. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul" <[email protected]> To: "Help and advice for BDI-4 users." <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, December 28, 2005 8:04 PM Subject: Re: [Bdi4emc-help] problem with BDI 4.3 and ppmc On Wednesday 28 December 2005 05:54, [email protected] wrote:

The *_INDEX parameters in each AXIS_* section do nothing - I won't bore you with the details as to why the works wasn't completed.. It is quite safe to delete them. Regards, Paul.
