[Bah-alcarria] Reunión con Grego y algo más
by victoria lópez barahona 04 Jan '10

T of the purple bit and making it look like a purple rainbow. Soon the shadow covers all the purple light in the east. "'In the west, where the sun is setting, the colors are all different. The whitish light spreads quite a long way up into the blue, but when the sun comes close to the horizon, this turns to yellow, lighter higher up and darker lower down. It is sometimes reddish at the horizon line, and the clouds are turned to pink. "'After the sun has really gone down, the yellow gets darker, changing into orange, sometimes, while the white spot spreads sideways and its upper edge marks off the brighter from the darker bits of the sky. "'In the darker part of the sky, at about quarter way up, a purple glow suddenly appears. It grows bigger quickly, making a circle, the lower edge of which looks as though it slipped behind the yellow strip. This purple spot in the west comes just as the purple rainbow in the east is dying out, and as the western purple spot grows it gets brighter, so that there is a time, after the sun sets, when it seems brighter than it did before.'" "That's queer," interrupted Fred. The printer thought for a moment. "It's right, bedad," he said, "I've noticed it meself." He continued reading: "'Sometimes there are dark blue and greenish stripes running down to the sun and these stripes shoot a long way up into the sky. "'If there are any clouds, they seem to be generally light yellow to begin with, changing to pink and rose, then red and dark orange. _______________________________________________ Bah-alcarria mailing list Bah-alcarria(a)lists.ourproject.org https://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/bah-alcarria

Damaris. And now, Martin, you that were my playmate and had forgot--you that were so ready to fight on my behalf--in this desolation there is none you may do battle with for my sake saving only--Martin Conisby!" Now here she turned, her face hid from me 'neath a fold of the great boat-cloak, and spake no more. And I, crouched above her, staring down at her muffled form outstretched thus at my mercy, felt my quivering fist relax, felt my brutish anger cower before her trust and fearlessness. And so, leaning across the tiller, I stared away into the raging dark; and now it seemed that the soul of me had sunk to deeps more black and, groping blindly there, hungered for the light. So all night long we drove before the tempest through a pitchy gloom full of the hiss of mighty seas that roared past us in the dark like raging giants. And all night long she lay, her head pillowed at my feet, sleeping like a wearied child, and her long, wind-tossed hair within touch of my hand. [Bah-alcarria] huerta pasada por agua
by carlos cano mira 29 Dec '09

Ur brain. It is the part of you which thinks. As you would be very badly off if you could not think, the brain is your most precious part, and you have a strong box made of bone to keep it in. [Illustration: _Diagram of the nervous system._] We will call the brain the central telegraph office. Little white cords, called nerves, connect the brain with the rest of the body. A large cord called the spinal cord, lies safely in a bony case made by the spine, and many nerves branch off from this. If you put your finger on a hot stove, in an instant a message goes on the nerve telegraph to the brain. It tells that wise thinking part that your finger will burn, if it stays on the stove. In another instant, the brain sends back a message to the muscles that move that finger, saying: "Contract quickly, bend the joint, and take that poor finger away so that it will not be burned." You can hardly believe that there was time for all this sending of messages; for as soon as you felt the hot stove, you pulled your finger away. But you really could not have pulled it away, unless t _______________________________________________ Bah-alcarria mailing list Bah-alcarria(a)lists.ourproject.org https://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/bah-alcarria

Heer the sinking people have reached their utmost limits. For the rich, there is still corn in the city--treasure of food to be bartered for treasure of gold. For the poor, man's natural nourishment exists no more; the season of famine's loathsome feasts, the first days of the sacrifice of choice to necessity have darkly and irretrievably begun. It is morning. A sad and noiseless throng is advancing over the cold flagstones of the great square before the Basilica of St. John Lateran. The members of the assembly speak in whispers. The weak are tearful--the strong are gloomy--they all move with slow and languid gait, and hold in their arms their dogs or other domestic animals. On the outskirts of the crowd march the enfeebled guards of the city, grasping in their rough hands rare favourite birds of gaudy plumage and melodious note, and followed by children and young girls vainly and piteously entreating that their favourites may be restored. This strange procession pauses, at length, before a mighty caldron slung over a great fire in the middle of the square, round which stand the city butchers with bare knives, and the trustiest men of the Roman legions with threatening weapons. A proclamation is then repeated, commanding the populace who have no money left to purchase food, to bring up their domestic animals to be boiled together over the public furnace, for the sake of contributing to _______________________________________________ Bah-alcarria mailing list Bah-alcarria(a)lists.ourproject.org https://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/bah-alcarria

Re all quite well at Mrs. Flowerdew's; the trouble was of another kind. There was no more to be said about it. As nothing further could be got out of him we went in search of Mrs. Flowerdew herself, and found her in a pretty vine-clad cottage. his way to the place where the Pope was seated he cried loudly, "I am your brother Robert, King of Sicily. This man who stands before you in my semblance is an impostor disguised as the King. Do you not know me? Is there no voice within you that says I speak truly, and that I am indeed your brother?" The Pope made no reply, but gazed with troubled look at the angel's unruffled face. Then the Emperor Valmond laughed and said: "Brother, methinks you have strange taste to keep a madman for your court-jester!" It seemed quite evident to the bystanders that what the Emperor said was very true, and once more, baffled and disgraced, the poor jester was roughly thrust back among the wondering crowd. [Illustration] The week was spent in prayer and stately rejoicing till at length Easter Sunday dawned upon the world. The presence of the angel filled the city with gladness and the hearts of men with piety. Even the wretched jester felt the influence of some gracious power, and, kneeling on the floor of his cell, he humbly bowed his head in prayer. He felt new strength rising within him, and new resolves, strangely meek ones for so proud a King, were made by him on that glorious Easter m _______________________________________________ Bah-alcarria mailing list Bah-alcarria(a)lists.ourproject.org https://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/bah-alcarria
