   hi,
after looking over the documentation on the cd. i am still a little
confused or disoriented and the task seems nearly impossible.
starting with the setup for the sherline mill maybe it is not so bad.
i am using new gecko 201s and new motors from
   [1]www.homeshopcnc.com 260oz-in motors for x and y and the 500 oz-in
motor on the z-axis. standard leadscrews for now. i know i will have
to dig through most of the documentation eventually, but it would be
motivating to have enough confidence and knowledge to safely send
   power to the motors.
if i start with the sherline software that appears on the bdi desktop,
what files, variables and documentation should i concentrate on first.

the /usr/local/emc/README file says that emc/doc/emcsoft.html describes
how to modify the .ini file. sorry if i am a little slow, but where do
i find this file.

The original was at [2]http://www.isd.mel.nist.gov/projects/emc/emcsoft.html
which disappeared a number of years ago. A copy was added to the CVS
repository at Sourceforge minus several images.. Like the README, it is
woefully out of date and has been superceeded by the files found in the
Documents directory of the CD.

... After much digging around in various archives, I've managed to locate many
of the images referenced by emcsoft.html and uploaded the whole lot to a
server. See [3]http://bdi4emc.ourproject.org/emcsoft/ - Note: There are a numbe
r
of broken links (mainly to NIST pages)..

Regards, Paul.
