Those are indeed the steps to take.

One of three possible problems -
1) The ISO download was corrupt - Check the md5sum of the download with
`md5sum bdi-4.50.iso` It should be: 46264f5125a81ed34a2a6260ad136067
2) The burner corrupted the data - Boot from the CD, and at the very first
boot screen, type in "linux mediacheck" - This will run a test and report
back with a pass or fail.
3) You burnt the CD as one large file rather than as an ISO. Quite a common
error if you used a Windows box.
Should point out that the updated packages are all available from Debian or
our repository at bdi4emc.ourproject/debian - Synaptic has a filter to show
which installed packages are upgradeable..
